Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner…Except Me

The times they are a-changing…aren’t they? The activities of this past weekend remind me of the opening line from A Tale of Two Cities… “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” Which day—Friday or Saturday—that you consider each reflects our challenging, divergent times. I’m definitely a “former is the latter” kind of girl.

Amidst all of this change, it’s time for The Juggle Struggle to change, too.

I’ve been blessed with a lot of work lately. The kind that pays money. This is a very good thing. It does, however, make time an even more precious commodity, and since this is not a monetized blog (as in, I make zero money), I realize I have to be more flexible with it.

It’s really just more of the juggle struggle that we all face. You know how it goes. Some things have to give when other things are taking.

I’ve written 243 posts for The Juggle Struggle. We’ve been through a lot together…both serious and silly. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to connect with you. Whether it’s through commenting on Facebook, Twitter, or here, or emailing me, or telling me face to face—knowing that I’ve shared things that resonate with you or that you enjoy has kept me writing during some very challenging times. I don’t want to lose that, so I hope you’ll stick with me as I try out this new path.

What exactly does that mean? Listen, I love my baby, and I won’t be giving her up. I just want to be able to put her in a corner when I need to.

I need to give myself permission to be less regimented in writing this blog—to give myself the freedom of posting less regularly.

Radical things I may do:

  • post on a day other than Monday
  • post on a Monday
  • write much shorter posts
  • write much longer posts
  • write monthly
  • not write at all
  • write only when I feel like it
  • put her down for a long winter’s nap

You get the idea. I’m just going to give myself some breathing room.

And as I make this shift, I’m glad that my last “regular” post quoted two amazing men and ended on a note of striving to toil in light and love.

Sounds like a plan, don’t you think?

Thanks for hearing me out, and thanks for reading The Juggle Struggle. I sure hope you’ll continue the journey with me—unpredictable as it may or may not be. This kind of change can be the death knell to a blog…but I sure as hell hope not.

If you ever get to missing me, you can always take a look in the archives at the bottom of the page. In 4+ years of weekly posts, there’s probably a thing or two you might like. You can always comment or email me, too.

Now, in the words of a woman I don’t think I could admire more, “Let’s move!”

If there is no struggle, there is no progress.
